Faribault resident Jason Enbrecht will not run again for the State Senate Seat which he ran for and lost in a special election. Former campaign worker Alexander De Marco will seek the DFL Endorsement...
Below is a facebook message to Enbrecht supporters from De Marco:
Dear all,
I wanted to explain a bit about why the name of this group has changed. The Caucuses are Tuesday, and while we don't endorse a senate candidate till later, people start thinking about whether they will be delegates to various conventions including the SD 26 convention. Like the special election itself, this forces a lot of serious decision making into a very very narrow time window.
Jason called me this evening and informed me he would not be running again. He knew that he wanted to make this decision before the caucuses Tuesday. My heart sank at the news because if there was anything would seem to have battle tested him, it was a special election with six debates and six weeks of hard and fast work. I take pride in having Jason as a sitting School Board member in my home town where he has made an incredible difference that I have personally had the opportunity to witness over the last year. I have no doubt he will chair that board soon and will continue to serve with dedication and distinction.
At the same time, I had to make some fast decisions as well. I had considered running previously and was asked by several persons to do so, but I chose not to create an endorsement fight with Jason and decided to back him with 100% of my efforts. Having now reflected this week, I made the decision that I would run if indeed Jason did not seek the seat.
The Caucuses are on Tuesday, and again while there is no senate candidate endorsed at these caucuses, people are going to be discussing their county conventions and eventually people will need to be selected as SD 26 delegates. It is indeed my intent to seek the DFL endorsement at the SD 26 endorsing convention. I have decided to begin by using my previous contacts to get the word out, and that includes this group. I had the opportunity to meet and work with so many of you over the last six weeks and I saw selfless dedication and tenacity that I had not witnessed in a long time.
I am also aware that I will likely not be the only person seeking the endorsement, and quite frankly that is a good thing. I am under no presumption whatsoever that somehow Jason's supporters are my supporters or that many may indeed favor another seeking the endorsement. I also in no way make any representations that Jason or any other public figure endorses me at this time. Again, this is just a medium of communication by which I am getting the word out to people in this district. I think it is critical that the base turn out for an endorsing convention and that this base get behind a candidate through a tried and true process, whether that candidate is me or someone else. I would ask humbly for your consideration and am happy to answer any questions you may have about my positions and my vision for the district and the State. Please message me or contact me and I will answer questions.

Engbrecht Facebook Page Taken Over
An unexpected turn of events took place this evening for the defeated Engbrecht for Senate campaign. Supporters (friends) of the Engbrecht for Senate facebook page received the following message:
There are many questions that are swirling over this facebook takeover...
Hopefully these questions are answered by the De Marco and Enbrecht camps. Either way Enbrecht supporters are confused.
*** UPDATE ***
8:35PM - comments deleted from former State Senate campaign's facebook page.
A few facebook "friends" posted comments on the formerly titled "Enbrecht for Senate" facebook page inquiring about the change to "De Marco for Senate" page.
Is this a hostile take over?
