Number 1: The Conservative
----------------------------------------------
Teresa Daly was the first endorsed DFLer to try. Daly was pretty conservative and she admitted to making a donation to her opponent in the previous election cycle. She did this in a poorly concocted commercial. The killer line was: I donated to congressman Kline's campaign in the last election and I want my $50 back. Daly has been active since her defeat within the DFL party.
Number 2: The Star
---------------------------------------------
Coleen Rowley, best known for being the FBI whistle blower. "In May of 2002, Coleen brought some of the pre 9/11 lapses in the investigation of Zacarias Moussaoui to light." In 2006 she took her turn to run against Republican John Kline. There was tension within Rowley's campaign. Rumors were that Rowley was unwilling to be polished into a "politician", choosing to be herself and remain organic to the political process. John Kline in a debate with Rowley belittled her and basically bullied her around. Rowley is now a contributor to The Huffington Post and works on various peace rallies.
Number 3: The Sergeant
-----------------------------------------
The latest person to try to unseat John Kline was Steve Sarvi. The Sergeant Vs. the Colonel - Sarvi was unable to get victory. Sarvi's problem was that his campaign was too busy going after John Kline and not explaining who HE was. Word is that many DFL Party insiders voiced their concerns to the Sarvi Campaign with no luck. Another problem was raising enough money to take on Kline. A party insider confided in The Truth that during a post election meeting a representative from Sarvi's campaign gave constructed critism to the 2nd Congressional District DFL and expressed what the party unit needs to do in the future to secure victory. Many at the meeting took this as the Sarvi campaign blaming the 2nd CD DFL for the loss. There might be hard feelings with some within the party about this situation.
*** The Truth - Exclusive *** - after the election Steve Sarvi's father hinted at Steve running again in 2010. We're rating the chances of this happening at 75%. The Truth is actively trying to validate whether or not Steve Sarvi will run in 2010 with the Sarvi's. Stay tuned.
Wild Card: The Constant
-------------------------------------
Looking forward to 2010 election the question is who will be running for the DFL endorsement? The field is currently wide open. The one thing that has remained constant over the last three DFL endorsement battles has been one person - his name is Peter Idusogie (pictured below).
Peter's best showing was in 2004 against Teresa Daly. This past year Peter didn't start his campaign until a month before caucuses, in contrast his endorsement oponent had been campaigning for a year prior. Why hasn't the 2nd Congressional District DFL given Idusogie a chance at winning? There's many thoughts and speculation why. A party insider stated recently to The Truth - "Peter has a great passion for people and has been able to excite the younger demographic to be involved. He deserves a chance to run against Kline. I hope the DFL will truly consider endorsing Peter if he chooses to run again." The Truth is in the process of confirming whether or not Idusogie will run for the DFL endorsement in 2010.
